ELIJAH

July 16 Mentorship Notes

(with Sanaly)
Elijah is interested in learning about starting a business. We dove into this a bit deeper by just talking about what he likes to do for fun, enjoys doing in his free time, and what he gets excited about. He shared that he likes lacrosse, anime and video games. He stated that he enjoys trying new products and doing hands on projects, such as the journal from yesterday. He mentioned that he was never really into arts and crafts, but likes making things that serve a purpose and can be used. I asked him if there were any specific businesses or brands that he likes/admires. He mentioned both Burt’s Bees and Palmer’s and stated he really likes products with Shea Butter and Coconut oil. He mentioned We talked a bit about how cool it could be to create a similar product/line that is all natural. When discussing what he already knew about starting a business, he mentioned the aspects of inventing something to sell, starting a team and being curious about how that works. He expressed interest in both experimenting/creating a natural product that includes coconut oil and then designing a website for his product. He mentioned different aspects of my LA Prototype and asked me to share some resources.

Elijah expressed that he is still in the research phase of his project. He plans on doing more research specifically about the ingredients in skin care products for sensitive skin. He wants to learn more about how to make all natural skin care products at home before experimenting. As of now, he would like support with his research. I offered to send him some links to check out and recommended he check out pinterest for some information and ideas.

Mentorship Notes 3

(With Sanaly)

After researching, Elijah shared a more specific skin care business idea, which is as follows:
Creating a quiz to find out what the customer needs and then creating shea butter/coconut oil products that can be mailed out either as a diy kit with instructions or an already prepared product ready to use. It would be up to the customer!

He will need the following Supplies/Materials:
Coconut Oil
Essential Oils
Little Jars
Brown Bags for Packaging

Next three steps:
1.Create a poll and send it out to zoom group
2.Put together a kit (learn how to make the product & take photos)
3.Build Website & continue building slidedeck

Poll Questions Brainstorm:
How likely are you to try a new skin care product?
Have you ever used coconut oil or shea butter?
Do you have any skin problems you want to fix?

Mentorship Notes 4

(Sanaly) Elijah stated he hopes to have built his own website on squarespace in addition to adding to his slides and creating/packaging a sample of his product by week 6, He defines having completed those three things as success and is very excited to see how it all turns out. He plans on presenting his findings through a slide deck, where he will add pictures of his process and his reflection video. I offered support if needed in piecing together the slide deck and will also be sharing some links to helpful tutorials on pinterest.
